* 1.Duke Il numero 1 del ranking è un premio al grande lavoro di coach K: i Blue Devils sono leggeri sotto e non hanno grandi star ma difendono benissimo e sono ben strutturati in attacco con un gioco altruista in cui si cerca sempre l'extra pass. Giocano bene, indubbiamente. Gerald Henderson ha trovato la giusta sicurezza nel jump shot e Kyle Singler possiede classe e coraggio. Se arrivano alle Final Four è un trionfo del gioco di squadra ma temiamo sarà dura se vanno a sbattere contro team più fisicati. * 2.Connecticut Hanno stazza sotto con Thabeet, Adrien e Robinson, 4 ottimi esterni (Dyson, Prise, Walker e Austrie) ed un santone in panchina. Per noi sono la vera anti-Carolina rispetto alla quale sono meno profondi ma con rotazioni solide e le leve di Hasheem Thabeet che possono dar fastidio a Psycho T. * 3.Pittsburgh I Panthers hanno tre eccellenti giocatori nei tre ruoli chiave: play (Fields) ala piccola (Young) e centro (Blair). Gli altri sono comprimari ma potrebbe bastare per arrivare sino alle elite eight, più in su abbiamo qualche dubbio. * 4.Oklahoma Blake Griffin è il giocatore dell'anno, una combinazione esplosiva di muscoli, tecnica ed esplosività. Fantastico. Il resto della squadra è di livello medio, può Griffin portare i Sooners lontano da solo? * 5.North Carolina Dovevano dominare e lo stavano facendo, poi un paio di sconfitte ed una mezza crisi, ora hanno ripreso a vincere ma hanno qualche insicurezza in più nelle loro menti. Hansbrough è sempre bravissimo ma dà la sensazione che ''sposti'' meno del passato, le chiavi sono Lawson, Ellington e Roy Williams: se avranno i nervi saldi al momento decisivo UNC è ancora la favorita, sennò...
Squadra giovane ma esplosiva, Teague è il play-guardia del momento, è materiale da NBA di primissima scelta, Al Farouq Aminu è stato impressionante stanotte nella vittoria su Duke anche se il canestro decisivo l'ha messo James Johnson. Hanno tutto per andare lontano: muscoli,tecnica e freschezza mentale, al limite il loro problema può essere l'inesperienza e la panchina buona ma non eccelsa. Da Final Four. * 7.Louisville Dopo Duke hanno la migliore difesa della NCAA, meno strutturata di quella dei Dukies ma più fisica. Giocano senza un play vero ma hanno guardie atletiche e pazzerelle al punto giusto, Terrence Williams è un clamoroso collante, Clark e Samuels sono due lunghi di grande valore. E Pitino è sempre lui... * 8.Marquette Uno dei migliori back court della nazione con Jerel McNeal, il controverso ma atletico Dominic James e Wesley Matthews figlio dell'ex play di Varese. Sotto hanno solo l'ottimo Lazar ma se riescono a tenere il ritmo desiderato possono mettere in crisi chiunque. * 9.Michigan St. Stravediamo per Tom Izzo, il più vicino a Coach K per tanti aspetti, ha un roster da cui attinge a piene mani ma solo Morgan e Lucas sono da corsa per il Torneo Ncaa, Izzo s'inventerà qualcosa ma non crediamo che andranno oltre le sweet sixteen. * 10.Xavier Buona squadra che nasce dalle rovine di quella, ottima, dello scorso anno con Brown, Anderson e Raymond che sono eccellenti giocatori per i mercati europei. Non sono da Final Four comunque. Le altre: Riteniamo insidiosa Syracuse, abbina stazza sotto ad un buon pacchetto di esterni e può fare parecchia strada. Purdue ha una buona dose di talento ma è un po' leggera e ci ricorda un po' Duke da questo punto di vista, Texas invece ha tanta fisicità ed il bombardino Abrams ma difficilmente può bastare, Gonzaga si è un po' persa per strada, Georgetown ha il migliore fra i big men freshmen ovvero Greg Monroe. Occhio a Butler e Saint Mary's che giocano proprio ma proprio bene. Carlo Perotti

Backcourt
Despite the loss of wing DeMarcus Nelson - Duke's leading scorer last season - few teams have a better collection of talent, depth and experience on the perimeter.

Junior Jon Scheyer probably will move back into the starting lineup at shooting guard after being one of the nation's top sixth men last season. Scheyer provided a big offensive lift off the bench, averaging 11.7 ppg. Scheyer moves well without the ball, and is at his best when coming off screens and shooting mid-range jumpers. He is also a solid threat from 3-point land.
Athletic wing Gerald Henderson was Duke's best player at the end of last season and looks poised for an All-ACC kind of year. Without Henderson, whose strength is attacking the basket, the Blue Devils would have been knocked out of the first round of the NCAA tournament by Belmont. The former five-star recruit hit some clutch baskets late and finished with a team-high 21 points in the Blue Devils' 71-70 escape. He'll need to be more steady and average around 15 ppg, possibly more, to make up for Nelson's scoring.
Sophomore Nolan Smith earned a spot in the rotation last season and should play a bigger role. Quick and athletic, Smith can back up Paulus at the point or provide a scoring punch off the ball. He may even start if the Blue Devils choose to go with a four-guard lineup.
Duke's biggest addition is freshman Elliot Williams. A five-star prospect from Memphis, Williams packs plenty of athleticism into a 6-4 frame and can handle the ball well and play multiple positions. Williams is also an excellent defender, which should lead to early minutes. He'll quickly emerge as a steady contributor.
Frontcourt
Mike Krzyzewski said Kyle Singler was the most ready of any freshman he had ever had prior to last season, and the versatile forward backed up the coach's bold statement. Singler ranked second on the team in scoring at 13.3 ppg and tied for the lead in rebounding with 5.8 rpg on his way to capturing the ACC Rookie of the Year award.
Singler managed that production while playing out of position for most of the year, and he'll likely have to do the same again. Duke still lacks a quality big man. The Blue Devils went out and signed a pair of three-star power forwards – 6-7 Olek Czyz and 6-10 Miles Plumlee – but neither is ready to play heavy minutes. That means Singler will match up with opposing big men again. On offense, that works to the Blue Devils' advantage. Singler, who handles the ball well and is good outside shooter, creates matchup problems and pulls those big men away from the basket. But it does create problems on defense, leaving the Blue Devils undersized and often overmatched on the interior.
It will be up to juniors Lance Thomas and Brian Zoubek to change that. Both have been no more than role players so far. Either could start alongside Singler and will play significant minutes. The 6-8 Thomas needs to do a better job avoiding foul trouble. The 7-1 Zoubek, who has more than enough size to create an inside presence, has battled a series of foot injuries.
Senior forward David McClure, who has been a utility man of sorts in the past, will likely be part of the rotation. Plumlee and Czyz, who were ranked the Nos. 101 and 112 prospects in the 2008 class, may also earn some minutes.
Offense
Influenced by working alongside Phoenix Suns coach Mike D'Antoni with Team USA, Coach K made some radical changes on offense last season. The Blue Devils turned up the pace and moved four players on the perimeter, sometimes even five. The result was an explosive attack that jacked up an ACC-high 816 3-pointers and ranked second in the league with 83.2 ppg. With that kind of production and much of the personnel back, expect more of the same.
Defense
Getting more stops will be the focus of Coach K and his staff. The Blue Devils, who stick to a traditional man-to-man despite their lack of size, were eighth in the ACC in field-goal percentage defense (43.5 percent) last season.
Shoes to Fill
Nelson. There is more than enough firepower to make up for Nelson's 14.5 ppg. Replacing Nelson's 5.8 rpg is a bigger concern. The team captain played far bigger than his 6-4 frame and he was one of the better rebounding wings in the nation.
Must Step Up
Henderson. This junior raised his scoring average from 6.8 ppg to 12.7 ppg last season. He's fully capable of making another big leap, and the Blue Devils need him to be more assertive on the offensive end.
Impact Newcomer
Williams. Meet the Blue Devils' next star. Long and athletic, Williams has a great package of physical tools. If he develops quickly, the Blue Devils will have a big weapon to utilize.

1 Siena: Domercant vale Bootsie (ma forse non a livello di chimica di squadra) e Finley è IMHO meglio di Ilievski. Sono sempre i numeri 1
2 Roma: Brandon Jennings, invece di passeggiare un anno in Arizona, è venuto a farsi le ossa quà con Repesa, se lo farà con umiltà (non pensando di essere un marziano) può essere l'attrazione del campionato prima di volare nella NBA. He's got guts by the way.
Brezec, che ha impressionato molti forumisti, non vale la metà di Lorbek. De La Fuente è per ora l'unica AP del roster... rischioso. Con Repesa (il miglior coach in Italia), si va sempre lontani.
3 Virtus Bo: mercato strepitoso ma con Pasquali in panchina con un rapporto qualità-isterismo ai massimi livelli e quello strano presidente la Virtus ha un ventaglio di risultati che va dallo scudetto al fallimento (in campo o fuori...) Koponen bella presa
4 Fortitudo Bo: la miglior coppia di esterni (Forte-Woods) in campo quanto a talento, la peggiore fuori in quanto a gestibilità, siamo a livello di rischiatutto. Ci si divertirà a Bononia quest'anno (e pure sulla riviera romagnola...). Huertas me gusta.
5 Treviso: il mio play del cuore (Wood), un Neal interessantissimo e Wallace dalla combinazione cuore-IQ di alto livello. Il gruppo di slavi (Nicevic-Rancik-Markovic-Lorbek) non mi fa impazzire ma ha qualità.
6 Milano: chi ci capisce qualcosa? un'accozzaglia di play e tante ali-alette più atletiche che tecniche. Rocca e Thomas giocatori di cuore e tecnica sono le certezze di una squadra strana su cui Bucchi deve inventarsi qualcosa... ma ne è capace?
7 Avellino: Dickau per me è destinato ad un impatto alla... Frahm... ed infatti hanno preso Porta. Slay ottimo ma rischio infortuni da sempre, Big E è il miglior 5 pure del campionato. Rimpiangeranno il nanetto. Sono curioso di vedere che s'inventa lo Zare, il coach più fantasioso in Italia.
8 Caserta: Frates+Slay è come fumare in un deposito di munizioni, ci si attende un revival dei tempi di Adrian Caldwell. Butler si candida a play rivelazione, Foster guardia dal grande futuro: Caserta e Cantù sono parecchio speculari. Interessante vedere chi ha visto meglio.
9 Cantù: ottimo coach, grande ambiente, tifo coinvolgente ma rispetto al solito partiamo con qualche certezza in più (Elder, Pinckney, Toure) ed un paio di scommesse spese però su ragazzi di grande carattere come Gaines e Rich. Squadra un po' sottodimensionata come cm ma non come atletismo, anzi...
10 Pesaro: non me ne voglia Pino ma la sua squadra, basata su collanti come Hurd e Hicks e sul fisico di Akindele, alla fine vivrà sulle fortune delle cartilagini di Curry e Myers e sulla regia di Stanic che sinora ha solo impressionato in lega2.
11 Teramo: benissimo Moss ed il bombardino JayCee Carroll, grande mossa Amoroso e tengono Poeta, lottano per essere la sorpresa della stagione.
12 CdO: giocatori interessanti ma tutti nei ruoli sbagliati Edney è un grande ancora o è bollito? la seconda che ho detto...
13 Biella: Smith e Gaines sono minestre riscaldate che possono essere indigeste. Gist e Plaisted combaciano bene (il primo atletico, il secondo con tecnica old-fashion) ma sono due rookies,rischioso...
14 Ferrara: ha tenuto intatto il gruppo che ha dominato in lega2, non un'idea stupida, ed hanno in Collins un gran play. Squadra da lega2 certo... ma che gioca bene.
15 Rieti: c'è del talento (Harvey-Green) al servizio della follia di Pickett.
16 Montegranaro: Shawn Kemp... mamma mia! In effetti è dimagrito ma è fermo da anni e va per i 40 anni... onore al coraggio dei marchigiani. Temo sarà una scommessa persa per un team smembrato e che si avvia al disarmo.
17 Udine: non mi piace per niente,il suo allenatore in primis.
18 Napoli: noi la scorsa stagione eravamo in questa posizione a questo punto della stagione ma qui non vedo quei barlumi di luce che si intravvedevono in Brianza. Sono finiti i danè a Napulè... e si vede.
